POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 32-year-old Haines City woman is back in custody following an August 11 incident involving a baseball bat attack, a high-speed vehicle flight near a high school, and a head-on collision with a police cruiser.
Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Haines City residence of Jasmine Janae Cuyler around 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday after receiving reports of a domestic dispute.
According to statements provided by the victim, Cuyler initially struck him repeatedly with her fists before picking up an aluminum baseball bat. She damaged a television inside the home and struck the victim multiple times as he fled the house.
Responders noted that the victim sustained cuts and bruises from the altercation.
This marks the third time in two years Cuyler has been taken into custody for physical violence, following previous arrests on March 29, 2025, and July 26, 2026, both involving physical attacks against the same victim.
Following the Tuesday incident, Cuyler fled the scene in a white 2016 Toyota Corolla. A deputy located the vehicle shortly after and initiated a traffic stop near County Road 544 and 30th Street in Haines City.
When instructed to step out of the car, Cuyler refused and drove off toward Haines City High School, prompting school officials to place the campus on heightened security.
Cuyler then drove down a dirt road situated between the high school and a local cemetery before executing an abrupt U-turn. She drove directly into the oncoming patrol car, hitting it head-on.
The deputy then used his patrol car to immobilize her vehicle. Upon coming to a stop, the deputy again ordered her to exit the car. Cuyler refused, yelling to the deputy that he would have to kill her. The deputy pulled her from the car and placed her in handcuffs following continued physical resistance.
No deputies were injured during the pursuit or arrest.
Deputies later confirmed that Cuyler is a former sergeant at the Charlotte Correctional Institution. She was previously convicted and sentenced to three years of probation and 100 hours of community service for smuggling cell phones into the prison facility.
“Jasmine Cuyler has clearly shown that she is a violent person, and the severity of her violence is getting worse,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said in a statement. “She hadn’t even been out of jail more than two weeks before getting arrested again. She’s obviously a threat to the victim, and without a doubt a threat to the public in general.”
Cuyler was transported to the Sheriff’s Processing Center. She faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including:
- Aggravated Battery (F1)
- Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer (F1)
- Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer (F2)
- Fleeing to Elude (F2)
- Resisting with Violence (F3)
- Felony Criminal Mischief (F3)
- Reckless Driving with Property Damage (M1)
- Battery (M1)
- Violation of Pre-Trial Release (M1)
- Possession of Marijuana (M1)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (M1)
