Drivers across Pinellas County should prepare for roadwork and traffic delays beginning Sunday, August 2, as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 carries out maintenance and construction projects across several major corridors.
Nighttime Lane Closures on U.S. 19
Heavy overnight work will impact U.S. 19 throughout the week. Nighttime lane closures are scheduled from Sunday, August 2, through Thursday, August 6, between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. from Tampa Road to Tarpon Avenue.
Additional overnight closures on U.S. 19 will take place during the same date range from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. along two other sections:
- State Road 580 (Main Street) to State Road 586 (Curlew Road)
- Drew Street to State Road 580 (Main Street)
Daytime Weekday Construction
Daytime commuters will experience disruptions on multiple state roads from Monday, August 3, through Friday, August 7.
Work hours will run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on:
- State Road 687 (4th Street North): From Gandy Boulevard to I-275.
- State Road 688 (Ulmerton Road): From 49th Street North to Egret Boulevard.
- State Road 682 (Pinellas Bayway): At Dolphin Cay Lane/Landings Drive and extending to the Pinellas Bayway Toll Plaza.
Additionally, daytime lane closures on State Road 694 (Park Boulevard) at 60th Street are set for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the same weekday stretch.
Mid-Week Overnight Operations
Two specific overnight projects will take place mid-week:
- Interstate 275: Lane closures are planned between 54th Avenue North (Exit 26) and Gandy Boulevard (Exit 28) from 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, to 6 a.m. Thursday, August 6.
- 54th Avenue North: Lane closures between 22nd Street North and just east of 26th Street North will run from 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, to 5:30 a.m. Thursday, August 6.
Long-Term and 24-Hour Roadwork
Several continuous projects will keep lane restrictions in place around the clock:
- State Road 60 (Gulf to Bay Boulevard): Eastbound lanes remain closed 24 hours a day from South Bayshore Boulevard to Dr. Kiran C. Patel Boulevard through summer 2026.
- State Road 586 (Curlew Road): Eastbound lanes from McMullen Booth Road to Tampa Road will stay restricted 24 hours a day through late 2026.
- 62nd Avenue South Bridge: Continuous lane closures remain over Maximo Channel through summer 2026. A temporary traffic signal is currently managing bi-directional traffic across the bridge.
- 62nd Avenue North: Right lanes in each direction approaching and under the I-275 overpass stay closed 24/7 through approximately December 2026.
