Lanes Reopen After Fatal Collision On Tamiami Trail In Nokomis

NOKOMIS, Fla. – Traffic is moving again in Nokomis following a fatal morning crash at the intersection of US 41 and Bayshore Road. Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputies and the Florida Highway Patrol have cleared the scene after an investigation into the single-fatality accident that disrupted travel for several hours.

The crash originally forced the closure of both the northbound and southbound fast lanes on North Tamiami Trail. During the investigation, law enforcement advised that “citizens traveling in the area should expect traffic delays” as troopers worked to document the scene.

As of this update, the Florida Highway Patrol has concluded its initial on-site work, and all lanes are now open to through traffic. While the roadway is clear, officials have not yet released specific details regarding the cause of the accident or the identity of the deceased.
