Fatal Crash In Tampa Leaves One Dead, Several Injured

TAMPA, Fla. – A woman in her late 20s was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Tampa on Friday morning.

The accident occurred just before 10:00 AM at the intersection of East Bougainvillea Avenue and McKinley Drive. According to Tampa Police, a Kia Sorento was turning onto East Bougainvillea Avenue when it was struck by a southbound Dodge Ram traveling on McKinley Drive.

The impact of the collision caused a chain reaction, involving two other vehicles. A third vehicle, attempting to avoid the crash, veered off the road and crashed into a wooded area. A fourth vehicle was struck by debris from the initial collision.

The driver of the Kia Sorento was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the Dodge Ram were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the third vehicle was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the fourth vehicle was not injured.

East Bougainvillea Avenue and McKinley Drive were closed for several hours while police investigated the crash. Drivers were encouraged to seek alternate routes.  

The Tampa Police Department is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
