Alexia Telles Receives Decades-Long Sentence for Girlfriend’s 2023 Killing, Ending Painful Chapter for Victim’s Family
Alexia Telles, 23, of Oswego, Illinois, has been sentenced to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the first-degree murder of her girlfriend, Annissa Ellen-Williams. The sentence was handed down on July 10, 2025, by Judge Jody Gleason, pursuant to a plea agreement.
Telles was arrested and charged in February 2023 after she arrived at an Oswego residence with Ms. Ellen-Williams, who was suffering from a traumatic head wound. Despite life-saving efforts by medical personnel, Ms. Ellen-Williams was later pronounced dead.

A thorough investigation by the Oswego Police Department and the Illinois State Police ultimately led to Telles’s arrest and charges. Authorities believe that Telles and Ms. Ellen-Williams had been involved in an argument while Ms. Ellen-Williams was driving. Forensic and digital evidence, along with statements Telles made to police, led investigators to conclude that Telles had intentionally killed Ms. Ellen-Williams and then attempted to stage the scene to appear as a suicide.
Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis commented on the challenging nature of such cases.
“These cases can be difficult to prosecute because only two people know exactly what occurred that fateful night,” Weis stated. “However, the investigative work done by law enforcement and the Coroner’s Office led to the successful prosecution of Telles for the murder of Ms. Ellen-Williams.”

Weis emphasized the significance of the sentence in providing closure to the victim’s family. “This sentence ensures that justice is served, and the victim’s family does not have to endure the pain of a trial,” he said. “Telles has accepted responsibility for the heartless act she committed against someone she professed to care so much for.”
Telles will be required to serve 100 percent of her 30-year prison sentence, followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release. She has remained in custody since her arrest in February 2023.
