Fatal Early Morning Head-On Crash In Marion County Claims Life Of Belleview Man

A head-on collision early Saturday morning on County Road 42 in Marion County resulted in the death of one man and left three other people with serious to critical injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 2:40 a.m. on C.R. 42, just west of SE 160th Avenue Road.

FHP troopers’ crash report indicates that a pickup truck traveling eastbound on C.R. 42 crossed the center line and struck a sedan that was heading westbound.

The driver of the sedan, a 40-year-old man from Belleview, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Authorities have not yet positively identified the passenger.

In the pickup truck, the 29-year-old Altoona woman who was driving and her 22-year-old male passenger from Clermont both suffered serious injuries and were also hospitalized for treatment.

FHP confirmed that all four individuals involved in the crash were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
