A verbal dispute in a Brevard County front yard turned deadly Wednesday evening, leading to the immediate arrest of a 22-year-old man on murder and weapons charges.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit arrested Terrance Skinner Jr. on Wednesday, June 3, charging him with first-degree premeditated murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The incident began Tuesday at approximately 6:20 p.m. when the sheriff’s office communications center received a 911 call reporting that a man had been shot in a front yard. Responding deputies located the victim, identified as Xavier Carroll, at the scene. Carroll was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
According to sheriff’s office investigators, Skinner and Carroll became involved in a verbal altercation. The argument escalated, at which point Skinner drew a firearm and shot Carroll multiple times.
Deputies located Skinner at the scene of the shooting. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Brevard County Jail, where he is currently being held on a no-bond status.
