TAMPA Fla. – A collision between a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer on US-41 claimed the life of a 21-year-old Riverview man Sunday evening. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 6:00 PM at the intersection of US-41 and 16th Avenue South in Tampa.
Troopers say a Honda motorcycle operated by the Riverview man was traveling northbound on US-41. Witnesses indicate the motorcycle was moving at a high rate of speed.
A Volvo tractor-trailer driven by a 55-year-old man from Wesley Chapel was traveling southbound on US-41.
The fatal moment occurred when the driver of the tractor-trailer attempted a left turn at the intersection of 16th Avenue South, directly into the path of the oncoming motorcycle.
The motorcyclist struck the semi-truck and was pronounced dead at the scene due to fatal injuries.
