Fatal Shot Over A Parking Spot: 62-Year-Old Man Killed In Florida Walmart Dispute

A dispute over a Walmart parking space turned deadly on Tuesday afternoon when a woman shot and killed a 62-year-old man in North Lauderdale, Florida.

The incident unfolded around 12:28 p.m. at a local Walmart, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office. Cell phone video captured by bystanders shows the victim, Bart Diguglielmo, and an unidentified woman engaged in a heated argument in the parking lot.

In the footage, the woman is seen holding a firearm. At one point during the confrontation, Diguglielmo took a step toward her, and she fired a single shot into his stomach.

Diguglielmo collapsed to the ground, and the woman remained at the scene waiting for law enforcement to arrive.

Paramedics transported Diguglielmo to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the deadly confrontation stemmed directly from an argument over a parking space. The shooter remained on the scene, cooperated with responding deputies, and stated that she shot Diguglielmo in self-defense.

Authorities did not arrest the woman at the scene. Homicide detectives stated that once their investigation is complete, they will forward the case file to the State’s Attorney’s office for formal review.

Diguglielmo was a father of three, a military veteran, and a former emergency room trauma nurse. His daughter, Amanda, spoke to local news outlets to defend her father’s character after the tragedy.

“I heard one news site say it was over a parking spot,” Amanda told Local 10. “Another says it was because my dad was making some type of advance towards the woman, which I will completely debunk because my dad is not that person. He’s not perfect, but not someone that would do this to this extreme.”

Wiping away tears, Amanda added that no one “deserves to lose their life over a parking spot.”
