TAMPA, Fla. – One man is dead and a woman is seriously injured after a tragic vehicle crash involving two pedestrians in Tampa on Monday night.

The Tampa Police Department responded to a crash at the intersection of East Hanna Avenue and North 24th Street on October 6, 2025, just after 9:00 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found an 81-year-old woman, who was using a wheelchair, and a 71-year-old man had both been struck while crossing the street.

Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The male victim later passed away. The female victim’s condition is listed as stable, and she is expected to recover from her injuries.

A preliminary investigation suggests that a 23-year-old male driving a 2013 Jeep Wrangler was traveling east on East Hanna Avenue when another vehicle ahead of him swerved to avoid hitting the two victims, who were crossing southbound on the roadway. The driver of the Jeep was reportedly unable to stop in time, striking both the man and the woman.

The driver remained at the scene following the incident and cooperated with investigators.

Authorities have stated that impairment does not currently appear to be a factor in the crash, though investigators are still working to determine the speed of the vehicle at the time of the impact.
