The arrests took place on Friday, January 3rd, in Ohio for Joseph Valentour and Monday, January 6th, in Colorado for Jonathan Valentour.

Court documents detail the alleged actions of the Valentours, primarily based on police body-worn camera footage:

  • Joseph Valentour: Allegedly pushed against police lines, attempted to disarm an officer, and charged at another officer who was aiding a fallen colleague.
  • Jonathan “Duke” Valentour: Allegedly charged through the crowd towards police, pushed other rioters into officers, and used a rioter carrying a police shield as a shield himself.

The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the Department of Justice National Security Division.

The FBI field offices in Cincinnati, Denver, and Washington are leading the investigation, with assistance from the U.S. Capitol Police and the Metropolitan Police Department.
