FBI Intensifies Investigation Into New Orleans Bourbon Street Terror Attack

The FBI is continuing its investigation into the New Orleans terror attack that occurred on Bourbon Street in the early hours of January 1, 2025, which claimed the lives of 15 people and injured dozens more during New Year’s celebrations.

The suspect has been identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a U.S. citizen from Texas. Authorities released a recent photo of Jabbar as they work to piece together the events leading up to the attack.

FBI special agents, in collaboration with local law enforcement, are executing multiple court-authorized search warrants in New Orleans and across other states. The agency’s Evidence Response Team remains at the Bourbon Street crime scene, collecting all relevant evidence to aid in the investigation. Officials expect to turn the scene over to local authorities by early tomorrow morning.

In addition to the ongoing investigation, the FBI has deployed additional resources, including victim specialists, to provide support to the victims and their families.
