FBI Releases New Images In Abduction Of Savannah Guthrie’s Mother Nancy

The search for Nancy Guthrie reached a high-stakes turning point today as the FBI’s Phoenix office doubled its reward to $100,000 and released specific new details about a person of interest.

Investigators are hoping that a description of the suspect’s gear—specifically a black, 25-liter “Ozark Trail Hiker Pack”—will help the public identify the individual seen on doorbell camera footage before Guthrie vanished from her home.

The suspect is described as a man standing between 5’9” and 5’10” with an average build. By highlighting the specific backpack and the man’s physical stature, the FBI aims to narrow down a massive influx of information.

To date, the case has generated staggering public engagement, with the FBI receiving over 13,000 tips and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department logging nearly 18,000 calls. Sources familiar with the investigation say the release of these precise details is partly intended to filter out irrelevant leads, including dozens of calls from psychics and mystics that have diverted resources from actionable evidence.

While authorities are trying to streamline the process, they emphasized that no piece of information is too small. “We hope this updated description will help concentrate the public tips we are receiving,” the FBI Phoenix office stated.

They continue to urge anyone with even seemingly insignificant recollections from the area to come forward. The increased $100,000 reward applies to any information leading to Guthrie’s recovery or the arrest and conviction of those involved in her disappearance.

This federal update coincides with the recovery of physical evidence by Pima County detectives, who recently found a pair of black gloves near Guthrie’s residence. The gloves are currently undergoing DNA analysis. Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31 and was reported missing the following morning when she failed to join friends for an online church service.

Her daughter, “Today” show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, has continued to plea for public help, recently sharing family videos and stating that the family remains hopeful. As the investigation enters its second week, a massive law enforcement presence remains on the ground in the Catalina Foothills, supported by an unprecedented level of local and federal cooperation.
