FBI Director Kash Patel ordered an “immediate response” following the discovery of a hunting stand with a direct line of sight to Air Force One at Palm Beach International Airport, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said Monday.

The stand was found Sunday during a security sweep before President Donald Trump’s departure for Washington, D.C., following a weekend at Mar-a-Lago.

Bongino told “Fox and Friends” that the security sweep included modifications made by the Secret Service following recent assassinations and attempts.

Bongino explained that while the Secret Service is responsible for presidential security, the FBI takes over the investigation of critical findings under a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

“The director, Kash Patel, was directly involved right away… He ordered an immediate response,” Bongino said, adding that the hunting stand was “dismantled” and flown to the FBI laboratory to recover forensic evidence, including digital and biometric tools.

The discovery follows security heightened after the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk on September 10 and an assassination attempt on President Trump during a July 13, 2024, campaign rally.

Additionally, the discovery comes days after “No Kings” protests where some demonstrators reportedly expressed wishes for the President’s death.
