Commuters should expect delays on major interstates and thoroughfares throughout the week of September 21-27.
TAMPA, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has issued a summary of planned lane closures for the week of September 21-27, 2025. Commuters in Hillsborough County will face significant nightly and daytime disruptions on key highways and local roads due to ongoing construction and maintenance projects.
The Howard Frankland Bridge between Hillsborough and Pinellas counties will see nightly lane closures from Sunday, September 21, through Saturday, September 27, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Additionally, there are multiple closures on I-4 and I-75. Drivers on I-4 will encounter nighttime closures near the I-275 interchange and at the McIntosh Road exit. Motorists using I-75 should prepare for nightly closures from Progress Boulevard to Woodberry Road and from SR 574 to Fowler Avenue.
Several major local roads are also impacted. US 301 has three separate nightly closures scheduled, while US 92 (Dale Mabry Highway) will be closed from Ballast Point Boulevard to Sevilla Street. Other notable closures include SR 60 (Kennedy Boulevard), SR 553 (Park Road), and CR 672 (Big Bend Road).
The FDOT advises drivers to seek alternative routes or plan for extra travel time, especially during late-night and early-morning hours. Some projects, such as the I-75 shoulder closure from the Tampa Bypass Canal to Fowler Avenue, are long-term, lasting until November 7, 2025.
