Feathers And 11 Felonies: Florida Woman Arrested For Deliberately Crushing Baby Ducks

A 64-year-old Florida resident, Beverly Sasberry, is facing a long list of felony charges after authorities say she used her car to intentionally run over a group of baby ducklings. The arrest follows a gruesome incident on Jacksonville’s Westside that was captured on camera and witnessed by neighbors.

The events unfolded on Saturday, April 25, 2026, on Tempest Street.

A local couple reported watching a red Honda Accord drive directly into a group of ducklings.

According to witnesses, the driver didn’t just hit the birds once; she allegedly turned the vehicle around and drove over them multiple times to ensure they were struck.

When the couple confronted Sasberry a few days later, she reportedly showed no remorse. She told the witnesses she killed the animals on purpose because she was angry about the mess they were making in her yard.

Armed with this admission and surveillance footage of the act, the neighbors contacted District 4 Patrol officers.

Police used the video to identify Sasberry and her vehicle, eventually pulling her over on Thursday, April 30. Following a police interview, she was arrested and charged with 11 counts of felony animal cruelty—one for every duckling killed in the street.

The police department made its stance clear following the arrest, stating, “We do not take animal cruelty cases lightly.”

Authorities are reminding the public that anyone who witnesses a crime against an animal should report it immediately at 904-630-0500.
