SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. – A multi-agency operation on Thursday led to the arrest of a federally designated Armed Career Criminal and the seizure of a significant amount of cocaine and firearms in Nokomis.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) Special Investigations Section (SIS) executed a search warrant at 742 Church Street.
The operation involved a coordinated effort from several SCSO units, including the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), Tactical Unit (TAC), and the Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET). They were also assisted by the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) agency.

During the execution of the warrant, Eddie L. Outing, 41, was present at the residence. A subsequent search by detectives uncovered a substantial cache of illegal items:
- 28.8 grams of rock cocaine
- 22.2 grams of powder cocaine
- A loaded Glock 9mm pistol
- A loaded AR-15 rifle
- 9mm and .223 caliber ammunition
Outing faces serious charges, including Trafficking in Cocaine and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Authorities noted that Outing has an extensive criminal history with multiple felony convictions, classifying him as a Federal Armed Career Criminal (ACC).
