ORLANDO, Fla. – A former officer with the Kissimmee Police Department has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison for exploiting his position to solicit explicit material from a minor.

U.S. District Judge Julie S. Sneed handed down the sentence to Dariel Javier Quiles-Davila, 27, earlier today. The sentencing follows a trial in August 2025, where a federal jury found the former law enforcement officer guilty of receiving child sexual abuse material.

According to evidence presented in court, Quiles-Davila’s crimes began in October 2023 while he was actively on duty. Prosecutors established that he met the minor victim during a shift and used that interaction to secure the child’s contact information.

Once he had the victim’s details, Quiles-Davila moved the communication to his personal cell phone and various social media platforms. Court documents reveal he sent money to the minor and solicited sexually explicit photographs and videos, which he subsequently received.

The case was investigated as a joint operation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kissimmee Police Department. Assistant United States Attorneys Michael Sartoian and Chauncey A. Bratt prosecuted the case.

Officials noted this conviction is part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 to coordinate federal, state, and local resources against child exploitation.
