A federal grand jury in the Northern District of Ohio has handed down indictments against four foreign nationals, charging them with illegally reentering the United States after previous deportations.

The charges, announced Dec. 17, are part of “Operation Take Back America,” a nationwide Department of Justice initiative focused on combating illegal immigration and dismantling transnational criminal organizations.

According to court documents, the four men were discovered in separate locations across Northern Ohio earlier this month.

Prosecutors noted that the cases are factually unrelated, though all four defendants are alleged to have violated Title 8 U.S. Code 1326 by returning to the country without the required consent from the U.S. Attorney General or the Secretary of Homeland Security.

The indictments identify the defendants as:

  • Anastacio Escobar-Roblero, 33, a citizen of Mexico found in Huron (Erie County) on Dec. 5. He was last removed from the U.S. in September 2013.
  • Nixion Lopez-Peralta, 28, a citizen of Honduras located in Toledo (Lucas County) on Dec. 1. His most recent removal occurred in February 2020.
  • Wilson Lux-Solis (also known as Jose Roberto Lemus-Solis), 25, a citizen of Guatemala found in Upper Sandusky (Wyandot County) on Dec. 10. Records indicate he was previously removed in October 2019.
  • Manuel Lux-Tum, 51, a citizen of Guatemala also found in Upper Sandusky on Dec. 10. He was last removed from the U.S. in March 2016.

The investigations were led by the U.S. Border Patrol’s Sandusky Bay Station. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Matthew Simko and Frank Spryszak are prosecuting the cases for the Northern District of Ohio.

Officials emphasized that an indictment is merely an allegation and all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
