US Capitol Rioter

Feds Drop Charges Against One Hooligan Who Participated In The ‘Insurrection’ That Was Allegedly Worse Than 9/11

Speaking of hyperbole on steroids, the anti-Trumpers have sought for almost five months to convince Americans that the Jan. 6 “insurrection” was equated to, if not worse than, the 9/11 terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 Americans.

These true believers in a ridiculous narrative always want to gloss over the fact that in 1954 a band of Puerto Rican nationalists actually shot up the House floor, wounding five congressmen in the process, or that just two months ago an enthusiast of Nation of Islam founder Louis Farrakhan rammed a Capitol Police barricade in March and killed more officers – one – than were harmed at the pro-Trump riot.

Nevertheless, one case involving the Jan. 6 riot raises a question about the liberals’ characterization of the incident and its impact: If the breach of the Capitol was tantamount to overthrowing the government, why are prosecutors dropping charges against a rioter?

On Tuesday, The Washington Times reported that federal prosecutors have dropped charges against Christopher Kelly, a New York man who reportedly boasted that he was headed to Washington that day with “ex NYPD and some proud boys” to participate in “the most historic event of my life.”

According to the Times, the feds seem to have Kelly nailed.

Prosecutors had exchanges of Facebook messages in which Kelly reportedly told friends that he was inside the Capitol and “taking this back by force now, no more bs.” “We’re inside! Hearing stopped, sending everyone to the basement,” he added.

Kelly had faced charges of unlawful entry, obstruction of an official proceeding, and other crimes.

Yet on Tuesday, prosecutors told a judge that they were dropping the charges against Kelly “in the interests of justice.”

“The government and defense counsel have discussed the merits of the case, and upon reflection of the facts currently known to the government, the government believes that dismissal without prejudice at this time serves the interests of justice,” a prosecutor wrote in a court filing, according to the Times.

The Times added that while Kelly “is the first riot suspect to have charges dropped, it is expected that other cases will be dropped as prosecutors negotiate plea deals.”

Some “insurrection.”

  1. Weird. What happened to all the folks looting, burning businesses, throwing fireworks and molotovs at police, and attacking and burning actual federal buildings in Portland and Seattle? OH RIGHT, Kamala bailed them all out.

    How poignantly hypocritical!
