A 52-year-old San Antonio man is behind bars after a seven-hour standoff allegedly triggered by a dispute over house pets.

Bobby Rocha surrendered to police on Sunday following accusations that he threatened to kill his roommate for accidentally letting a dog and a cat escape the home.

The conflict began Saturday afternoon when the roommate, who has reportedly known Rocha since childhood, let the animals out by mistake. According to an arrest affidavit cited by KSAT, the roommate left to search for the pets but returned empty-handed.

Police say that is when Rocha became enraged, pointing a gun at the man and delivering a gruesome warning: he would “chop him into pieces, and feed him to the cat.”

The roommate managed to gather his belongings, escape the house, and call 911. When officers arrived, Rocha refused to exit, allegedly telling negotiators he was “willing to die inside.” He barricaded himself in the home for nearly seven hours before finally walking out with his hands raised.

Rocha was taken into custody without further incident and now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and obstruction or retaliation. He remains at the Bexar County Jail on a $40,000 bond, with a court date scheduled for February 2026.
