DADE CITY, Fla. – A violent collision on Wednesday evening has left a local woman dead and a teenager hospitalized following a crash at a rural intersection.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. on January 21, where Curley Road meets Saint Joe Road. According to initial reports, a 16-year-old male from Dade City was driving a Ford F-150 northbound on Curley Road when he approached the intersection.

Investigators state the teenager failed to stop at the stop sign and continued into the intersection, colliding directly with a westbound Audi Q5 driven by a 45-year-old Dade City woman.

The impact forced both vehicles off the roadway, where they struck a ditch. The aftermath was severe: the Ford pickup truck burst into flames, while the Audi SUV overturned, ejecting the driver.

Emergency crews arrived to find the woman had suffered fatal injuries; she was pronounced dead at the scene. The 16-year-old driver managed to survive the fiery wreck with non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the individuals involved as the investigation continues.
