Six people, including what are believed to be three adults and three children, were tragically killed in a head-on collision on State Road 60 west of South Kenansville Road on Saturday evening. The devastating crash, which involved a 2024 Hyundai Tucson and a 2011 semi-truck, resulted in both vehicles becoming engulfed in flames.

According to preliminary reports from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the fatal incident occurred when the westbound Hyundai Tucson attempted to pass several vehicles by entering the eastbound lane. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle while attempting to re-enter the westbound lane.

The FHP stated that the left side of the Hyundai then struck the front of the oncoming eastbound semi-truck. The impact led to an immediate and fiery collision, trapping the occupants of the Hyundai inside as the vehicle was consumed by flames. All six individuals inside the Hyundai were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries and was transported to Indian River Hospital for treatment.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the deceased.
