SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A single-vehicle accident claimed the life of a young woman early Tuesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:00 AM on June 30, 2026. Troopers stated that the victim, a 21-year-old from Minneola, was driving a Mazda CX-9 westbound on County Road 478.
While traveling west of County Road 747, the driver failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle went off the road, crashed into a fence, and then collided with a tree.
The impact caused the Mazda to catch fire. Investigators confirmed that the driver suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash.
FHP has not released any further information regarding the cause of the accident, and the crash remains under investigation.
