Five Florida Scratch-Off Players Rake In $5,000,000 In Winnings Last Week

This past week, Florida saw five new millionaires who struck gold by winning on scratch-off lottery tickets. Four of the five winners came from the new $50 scratch-off game, 500X The Cash.

On Monday, the Florida Lottery announced that 48-year-old Guadalupe Santillan Rodriguez of Ocala, claimed a $1 million prize from the $5,000,000 CASHWORD Scratch-Off game at Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.

He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $780,000.00.

Santillan Rodriguez purchased his winning ticket from Quick King Food Store, located at 8955 Southwest Highway 200 in Ocala. 

On Wednesday, Tenesia Hollins, 41, of Pensacola, claimed a $1 million prize from the new 500X THE CASH Scratch-Off game at Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. She chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $820,000.00.

When asked what she plans to do with her winnings, Hollins told the Lottery that the first thing she wants to do is pay off her mother’s house. “She’s done so much for me growing up, this is the least I can do for her,” Hollins shared.

Hollins purchased her winning ticket from Winn-Dixie, located at 4751 Bayou Boulevard in Pensacola. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

On Thursday, Martina Soto, 43, of Fort Lauderdale, and James Bruno, 55, of North Palm Beach, each claimed a $1 million prize from the new 500X THE CASH Scratch-Off game at the Lottery’s West Palm Beach District Office.

Soto chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $820,000.00. She purchased her winning ticket from Pompano Discount Liquor, located at 652 East McNab Road in Pompano Beach.

Bruno also chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $820,000.00. He purchased his winning ticket from 7-Eleven, located at 2490 PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens.

On Friday, Luis Rodriguez Espada, 60, of Miami, claimed a $1 million prize from the new 500X THE CASH Scratch-Off game at the Lottery’s Miami District Office. He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $820,000.00.

Rodriguez Espada purchased his winning ticket from Liberty Calle 8, located at 8590 Southwest 8th Street in Miami. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

Bruno also chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $820,000.00. He purchased his winning ticket from 7-Eleven, located at 2490 PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens. 

The new $50 game, 500X THE CASH, features a top prize of $25 million-the largest ever offered on a Florida Scratch-Off game-and the best odds to become an instant millionaire! The game’s overall odds of winning are 1-in-4.50.

On February 28, 2022, the Florida Lottery introduced the new 500X THE CASH Scratch-Off game, featuring a top prize of $25 million – the largest ever offered on a Florida Scratch-Off game.

By March 9th, the winners started to roll in. The Florida Lottery announced that Ryan Martin, 27, of Cantonment, claimed a $1 million prize from the new 500X THE CASH Scratch-Off game at Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $820,000.00.

Nine other players, in the month of March, scratched their way to $1,000,000 jackpots from the $50 game.

Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, comprising approximately 75 percent of ticket sales and generating more than $1.3 billion for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in fiscal year 2020-21.
