Flames Devour Tampa Home As Firefighters Battle Blaze From Above

TAMPA, Fla. – A single-story house in Tampa was heavily damaged Thursday afternoon after a massive fire tore through the structure, drawing a massive emergency response.

Multiple neighbors dialed 911 around 2:03 p.m. to report that smoke and flames were pouring from the residence located at 7002 Blossom Avenue. When the first Hillsborough County Fire Rescue crews arrived on the scene, they were met with intense fire conditions breaking out of the home.

Firefighters initially rushed inside the building with hose lines to combat the flames from the interior while simultaneously scanning the rooms for anyone trapped. Fortunately, nobody was found inside the house.

However, the fire quickly became too dangerous for the crews inside. As conditions deteriorated, commanders made the call to pull the firefighters out and transition to defensive operations. Crews set up an aerial apparatus, using the elevated ladder truck to pour water onto the blaze from above.

It took teams just under an hour to fully bring the fire under control and extinguish the remaining hotspots. Officials confirmed that no civilians or first responders were injured during the incident. The exact cause of the fire is still unknown and remains under investigation.
