AG Uthmeier launches an investigation into the ‘Arctic Frost’ probe, vowing to hold former Biden officials accountable for politically motivated targeting of conservative groups like TPUSA.
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced his office is launching an investigation and issuing subpoenas to former Biden administration officials. The move comes after documents revealed that the FBI’s “Arctic Frost” probe, the investigation that led to Special Counsel Jack Smith’s indictment of President Donald Trump, also targeted numerous other conservative groups.
The revelations, made public through whistleblower disclosures released by Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, indicate the expansive FBI probe encompassed 92 Republican targets, including the Republican National Committee and conservative organizations like Turning Point USA (TPUSA).
According to a spreadsheet from the probe, groups such as the Republican Attorneys General Association and TPUSA were hit with subpoenas for “J6 $”.
Grassley stated during an FBI oversight hearing that “Arctic Frost wasn’t just a case to politically investigate Trump,” but was a vehicle for “partisan FBI agents and DOJ prosecutors” to investigate the “entire Republican political apparatus.”
Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall echoed this on X, noting he “saw firsthand how our association was unfairly targeted” and calling the “weaponization of the FBI against political opponents” an “affront to our democracy.”
Uthmeier’s announcement was made on X, where he stated his office would be “launching an investigation and issuing subpoenas to former Biden officials who engaged in malicious, politically motivated witch hunts targeting conservative individuals and organizations, like @TPUSA.” He concluded with the declaration, “Time for accountability.”
This news follows the assassination of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk. The FBI revealed that more than 20 individuals who participated in a Discord chat with the suspect, Tyler Robinson, are under investigation.
The “Arctic Frost” investigation, as described in an FBI summary, probed “the multifaceted conspiracy to overturn the results of the 2020 Presidential Election.” Smith was appointed special counsel in November 2022 by former Attorney General Merrick Garland to lead the investigation into Trump. The Office of Special Counsel has since launched its own ethics investigation into Smith’s conduct.
