Florida Fish and Wildlife officials trapped an alligator on Sunday in Deltona after people spotted the gator with a knife sticking out of its head.
According to multiple reports, people called in after seeing the gator swimming in this pond behind a Subway store in Deltona.
Officers started looking for the injured gator on Friday and spent the weekend searching for the injured reptile. On Sunday they found the gator and were able to trap it, removing it from the water.
Officials say that due to the injury, the alligator was euthanized humanely.
There is no word yet on who stabbed the gator in the head and if there is a suspect in this case.
Those concerned about a nuisance alligator can call FWC’s Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-FWC-GATOR (866-392-4286), and officials will send a contracted nuisance alligator trapper to assess the situation.
