Florida And Delaware Data Dump Distorts Spike In COVID Death Numbers

A huge spike in nationwide COVID-19 deaths recorded Friday by Johns Hopkins University (JHU) was skewed by states dumping bulk data, and in one case, Delaware dumped cases from death certificates dating back to May of 2020.

A data dump by Florida and Delaware distorted the daily COVID-19 death figures compiled by JHU and made it appear that they jumped by 300% Friday, the Daily Mail reported.

Florida made up almost half of the daily data numbers, with 409 of the deaths recorded coming from the state.

However, the Florida Department of Health (DOH) only reports COVID-19 figures once every Friday, which means that all deaths over the previous 7-days are added to the total in one lump sum on Friday.

On Saturday, Florida reported 108 COVID-related deaths.

The state of Delaware also played a major role in sending the death totals sky high, as officials announced 130 new deaths Friday.

However, these deaths occurred between mid-May 2020 and late June 2021, with state health officials adding them Friday following a state review of death certificates, and not actually new deaths.

  1. I think we should stop paying attention to false statistics and LOOK around us and see how many people you actually know who are sick . . .and then we’ll have a bit more reality on the whole thing.
