Florida Cold Case Files: Four Murders, No Suspects, Can You Help Police?

The following cases are currently unsolved but police are continuing to investigate diligently as new leads come in. Please help bring the persons responsible for these crimes to justice.

In an effort to gain new information on these cold case homicides, the City of Gainesville is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the deaths described below.

Gatlin

On Saturday, March 17, 2007 at approximately 6:00 pm, the body of Shelley Hall Gatlin, a 37 year old white female was found along the Hawthorne Rails-to-Trails bike path. The victim had been strangled and left in the woods just off of the trail. According to police, Gatlin is a known drug user. She was last seen in the Spring Hill area the day before.

On Saturday, December 9, 2006 at approximately 6:30 am, the Gainesville Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1715 NW 32nd Pl. After the fire was extinguished, firefighters located two deceased bodies (one adult, one child) in the rubble. Evidence gathered at the scene indicated the mother & daughter were deceased prior to the fire and the fire was intentionally started to cover the murder.

On Sunday, November 12, 2006, at approximately 5:30 pm, the body of Grace Ann Cason was discovered near the St. Paul`s Christian Methodist Episcopal Church building, located at 1008 NE 18th Ter.  Cason lived in the area and was last seen by neighbors the night before and she appeared in a normal mood. Cason was shot in the head and died at the location where she was found.  

Again, the City of Gainesville is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for these deaths.

  1. The Joseph J. DiMare murder on March 24, 1961, in North Miami remains unsolved; however Miami Dade Police have all the evidence to know who and how this murder was committed, but have failed to make that information public? Why?
