Florida Democrat Tells Orlando Officials Not To Apologize For Saying America Is Not Worth Celebrating

Recent public opinion polls have shown that Democrats really don’t like America.

For example, as The Free Press has reported, Gallup released a poll last week that showed just 26 percent of Democrats are “extremely proud” of their country, compared to 58 percent of Republicans.

Back in March, Quinnipiac University released a poll that revealed that 52 percent of Democrats said they would flee the country rather than stay and fight if America faced a Ukraine-style invasion by a foreign power.

Now, state Rep. Anna Eskamani, a left-wing lawmaker from Orlando, helped cement the notion that it’s OK for Democrats to hate their motherland.

Eskamani was responding to a tweet about the Fourth of July by the city of Orlando.

On July 1, the city wrote on its official website, “A lot of people don’t want to celebrate our nation right now, and we can’t blame them. When there is so much division, hate, and unrest, why on earth would you want to have a party celebrating any of it?”

Continuing, the city added, “But in all seriousness, you know in your heart, Fourth of July fireworks are amazing, especially when you are standing in 90ᐤ heat, 100% humidity, next to 100,000 of your closest friends. In that moment, something takes over and we become united in an inexplicable bond. Yes, America is in strife right now, but you know what … we already bought the fireworks.”

Of course, as the city of Orlando sees it, the fireworks, and not America or its 246 years of survival, are “amazing. And what the hell, they already have the fireworks.

The post gained attention when Christina Pushaw, spokeswoman for Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, tweeted it and added, “Yikes. City of Orlando, is this your official position on our country and on 4th of July?”

The city then retracted the post on Saturday, saying in another post that its intent was not to offend, and that it “sincerely regrets the negative impact our words have had on some in our community.”

“We value the freedoms we have in this country and are thankful to the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for those. We take pride in celebrating the 4th of July to express our gratitude to those men and women and honor the country we live in.”

But then Eskamani barged in, posting in response to the supposed apology, “Y’all do not need to apologize — your first email captured the tone of how many Americans (and Orlandoans) are feeling right now. It’s ok not to be ok.”

In response to Eskamani, Pushaw added, “Democrat elected official shares negative sentiments about 4th of July, does not think that the City of Orlando should have issued even a tepid apology to those who love America and were offended.”

In short, according to Eskamani, it’s fine to hate your country, even as you reap all the benefits of living here and would never consider leaving. After all, as the polls show, few Democrats feel any pride in America and most of them would refuse to fight for her if she was attacked.

Meanwhile, Republicans feel the exact opposite, despite the ongoing damage being done to America by the Democrats in the White House.
