The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has taken the lead in a death investigation after human remains were discovered in the Marion Oaks community, with assistance from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
The discovery was made on Friday, October 17, 2025, in the 3200 block of SW 27th Circle. According to the MCSO, deputies were dispatched to the residential area around 2:00 p.m. after receiving a tip that human remains might be present on a property.
Following an extensive search, investigators successfully recovered the remains.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has since turned the primary investigation over to the FDLE.
The MCSO stated that as of now, there is no evidence to suggest the remains are connected to any of their active cases.
Further details about the identity of the deceased, the cause of death, or any potential suspects will be released in conjunction with the FDLE as the investigation develops.
