Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook announced Friday that her office was notified of the serious allegations agianst Deputy Ryan Perryon on June 21 and immediately launched an investigation.

According to Sheriff Cook, Perry followed the victim into her bedroom while a second deputy remained downstairs.
Once alone with the victim, Perry reportedly “demanded that the victim expose her breasts for him, and then he inappropriately touched the victim against her will.” Perry’s arrest report further alleges that the victim provided a credible disclosure that Perry “penetrated her genitals while using his authority and actions to coerce the victim while armed with a firearm during the course of his duties.”
Sheriff Cook expressed her outrage and disappointment, saying she was “pissed, devastated, and let down.” She emphasized, “We’re here to protect and serve our community, not victimize them.” Cook also praised the victim for her bravery in coming forward.

Perry, who joined CCSO in October 2018, had faced two prior complaints during his tenure. One complaint was sustained, involving “inappropriate comments,” while the other was deemed unfounded.
Sheriff Cook is urging anyone with a similar experience involving Ryan Perry to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. “We hear you, we stand with you, and we will fight for you,” she assured the community.
