The “Healthier You” initiative, a statewide endeavor, is designed to equip Floridians with the knowledge and tools necessary to improve their overall well-being. This latest program offers participants a unique opportunity to proactively build sustainable habits and enhance their quality of life.

To be eligible for the program, individuals must be residents of Leon, Hillsborough, or Palm Beach counties, be 18 years of age or older, and have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 25 or greater.

Participants can choose between a WeightWatchers Core Membership, which is virtual only, or a WeightWatchers Premium Membership, offering both virtual and in-person engagement options. Both membership tiers provide comprehensive access to a range of resources, including:

  • Nutritious eating plans, recipes, and meal-planning tools
  • Physical activity trackers and on-demand workouts suitable for all activity levels
  • 24/7 coaching support and opportunities for networking with others who share similar health goals

The DOH emphasizes that adopting a healthy lifestyle can lead to numerous benefits, such as improved energy levels, better sleep habits, enhanced self-esteem, improved psychological health, and reduced healthcare costs. Prioritizing nutritional needs and increasing physical activity are crucial steps in reducing the risk of developing chronic health conditions like heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and certain cancers.

State Surgeon General Dr. Joseph A. Ladapo underscored the importance of the initiative, stating, “Taking small, positive steps every day is a sure path to a healthier you. This partnership provides Floridians with the tools and support to take charge of their well-being. By focusing on balance, nutrition, and movement, we can build a stronger, healthier Florida.”
