Florida Felon Arrested After Shooting At 3 Women Turning Around In Driveway

A 31-year-old Florida man is facing multiple charges after allegedly opening fire on a vehicle turning around in a driveway last weekend, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Christian Gomez was arrested following an investigation by deputies and members of the Violent Crimes Unit. He is charged with shooting into an occupied conveyance and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Deputies responded to the area of 10th Street Southwest on Sunday after receiving reports of gunfire. Investigators determined that three females had pulled into a residential driveway to make a U-turn when an armed man stepped outside the home and fired at the vehicle as it fled the scene.

No injuries were reported.

Detectives identified Gomez as the suspect and executed a search warrant at his residence, where they recovered a 9mm handgun. Further investigation revealed that Gomez is a convicted felon whose firearm rights have not been restored.

“Firing a gun at an occupied vehicle is a reckless act that could have easily ended in tragedy,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said. “Thanks to the swift response of our deputies and the diligent work of our Violent Crimes Unit detectives, this dangerous individual is behind bars where he belongs. In Lee County, we will continue to hold violent offenders accountable and ensure our residents can feel safe in their communities.”

Gomez was taken into custody and booked into the Lee County Jail.
