The Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) announced a major breakthrough in a five-year-old double homicide case with the arrest of a suspect in Mexico.
On October 11, 2025, 29-year-old Liam P. Kelty was apprehended at Cancun International Airport with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals. The arrest follows years of exhaustive investigation into the tragic shooting deaths of Dustin Hunter and Amber Lynn Sutorus.
Hunter and Sutorus were killed near the intersection of Shepard Road and East Colonial Drive on September 3, 2020. For half a decade, OCSO homicide detectives have dedicated themselves to the case, working to secure justice for the victims and their grieving families.
Following his capture, Kelty was extradited to Miami-Dade County on October 13 and subsequently transferred to the Orange County Jail on October 15. He is formally charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
“We remain committed to seeking justice for victims and thank all agencies involved for their assistance in this case,” an OCSO spokesperson stated, recognizing the crucial role of the U.S. Marshals in locating and apprehending the fugitive outside the country.
