Despite a surge in demand over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, gas prices in Florida remained relatively stable. The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas was $3.11 on Sunday, just one cent lower than the previous week.

An estimated 4.5 million Floridians traveled more than 50 miles for the Thanksgiving holiday, contributing to increased demand for gasoline. However, this surge did not translate into a significant price hike at the pumps.

Gas prices varied across the state, with the lowest prices found in the Big Bend area and the western Panhandle. Okaloosa County boasted the cheapest gas at $2.70 per gallon, and 15 counties in the region had prices below $3 per gallon.

Meanwhile, South Florida continued to have the highest gas prices in the state. Palm Beach County and Monroe County (including the Florida Keys) both averaged $3.28 per gallon on Sunday.

Florida’s average gas price was 6 cents higher than the national average of $3.05 per gallon.

This relatively stable gas price trend provided some relief for holiday travelers, despite the increased demand.
