Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis built his campaign on a simple slogan: “Florida is where woke goes to die.”

Now, the Republican governor may have a new catchphrase: “Freedom is here to stay.”

DeSantis touted that in a tweet on Tuesday as he announced the continuation of the shocking reversal in voter-registration statistics.

When the last voter data was released a month before DeSantis won the 2018 election, Democrats outnumbered Republicans throughout Florida by about 263,000.

On Tuesday, he noted on Twitter that the GOP now claims roughly 400,000 more voters than the Democratic Party.

“Freedom is here to stay,” DeSantis said in the tweet.

His post seems to confirm what Christian Ziegler, vice chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, said about registration trends.

As reported by The Free Press this week, Zielger noted that just 17,000 of the nearly 1 million people who registered to vote since DeSantis became governor opted to become Democrats.

Ziegler attributed that to DeSantis’ aggressive pursuit of cultural issues and said the party would use that advantage to push for majorities on school boards and city councils.

DeSantis mauled Democrat Charlie Crist in November’s election, sweeping 62 of the state’s 67 counties and beating Crist by 20 points.
