Governor Ron DeSantis named four new judges Tuesday to fill vacancies across the state. The appointments, announced Tuesday in Tallahassee, elevate seasoned legal professionals to seats in the Eighth and Tenth Judicial Circuits.

Jonathan Ramsey of Gainesville is moving up to the Eighth Judicial Circuit Court.

This marks a quick ascent for Ramsey, who has been serving as an Alachua County Court Judge since DeSantis first appointed him in 2024. A Double Gator with degrees from the University of Florida, Ramsey previously practiced as an associate at the firm Fine, Farkask, & Parlapiano. His new seat was created by the passage of Senate Bill 2508.

Taking Ramsey’s place on the Alachua County Court is Joy Danne of Newberry. Danne brings a different perspective to the bench, having spent over a decade as an Assistant Public Defender in the Eighth Judicial Circuit. A Florida State University graduate who earned her law degree from Faulkner University, Danne enters the judiciary to fill the vacancy left by the elevation of Judge Van Vorst.

In the Tenth Judicial Circuit, Rachelle Williamson of Winter Haven has been tapped for a circuit judge position. Like Ramsey, Williamson is transitioning from a county court role in Polk County that she held since earlier this year.

Her background includes a tenure as an Assistant State Attorney. Williamson, a graduate of Florida State and Florida Coastal School of Law, takes a seat also established by Senate Bill 2508.

Rounding out the appointments is Sarah Corbett of Lakeland, who will serve as a judge on the Polk County Court. Since 2022, Corbett has managed the internal operations of the Sixth District Court of Appeal as the Director of Central Staff.

She previously worked as a Senior Staff Attorney for the Second District Court of Appeal. Corbett holds degrees from Florida Southern College and the University of Florida. Her position was similarly created through Senate Bill 2508.
