Gov. Ron DeSantis announced a slate of appointments and reappointments Friday to several regional water management districts and the Big Cypress Basin Board, sending the selections to the Florida Senate for final confirmation.
In Southwest Florida, DeSantis appointed Robert Boos and reappointed Robert Stern to the Southwest Florida Water Management District. Boos serves as co-founder, president, and CEO of Boos Development Group, Inc. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Florida State University, a master’s in business administration from the University of South Florida, and received the Citizens Recognition Award from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Stern, a shareholder at the law firm Trenam Law, earned both his bachelor’s degree in business administration and his law degree from the University of Florida. He has served on the University of Florida Board of Trustees, the Florida Postsecondary Education Planning Commission, and the Tampa Civil Service Board.
DeSantis also reappointed Ronald “Ron” Bergeron to the South Florida Water Management District. Bergeron is the CEO of Bergeron Land Development and Bergeron Properties and Investments Corporation, as well as the founder of the Bergeron Everglades Museum and Wildlife Foundation.
He belongs to the Everglades Coalition and the Florida Sportsmen Conservation Association, and sits on the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force governing board.
To the north, Nicholas Patronis was reappointed to the Northwest Florida Water Management District. Patronis is vice president of Captain Anderson’s Restaurant and attended Gulf Coast State College. He has served with the National Restaurant Association and the Florida Restaurant Association.
Additionally, DeSantis reappointed two members to the Big Cypress Basin Board: Andrew Hill and Michele Lenhard. Hill is co-founder and president of Andrew Hill Investment Advisors and serves on the board of directors for the Greater Naples Area Chamber of Commerce.
He earned an accounting degree from Canisius University and an MBA from Syracuse University, having previously served on the Naples Chartered Financial Analyst Society board. Lenhard, a retired former owner of Eagle Business Archives, LLC, holds a degree in aquatic environments from Allegheny College. Her civic background includes chairing the Conservation Collier Land Acquisition Advisory Committee and serving on the board of Friends of Barefoot Beach.
All selections announced by the governor’s office remain subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
