Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Announces Additional COVID-19 Vaccination Sites in Pinellas County

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the opening of an additional vaccination site in Pinellas Park.

This new site will provide 3,000 vaccines to seniors age 65 and older over the next three days.

DeSantis said seniors should expect delays in shipments of the COVID-19 vaccine due to winter storms impacting a large part of the country, but that more vaccines were on their way.

“We were at 325,000 last week, we’re going to have a net increase of 41,000 for the next week, shipping,” said DeSantis.

DeSantis said those with appointments to get the Modern vaccine should “just hang in there.”

“The doses are going to get here, but you have some extreme weather that is keeping those doses out of Florida,” DeSantis said.

In addition to the vaccination site in Pinellas Park, the Governor announced another state-supported vaccination site will be opening next week in Pinellas County.

This will amount to an increase of nearly 5,000 vaccines for Pinellas County per week.
