A committee tasked with selecting finalists to become the next president of Florida Gulf Coast University is poised to consider three firms that would help with the search.

The school’s search for a new president, which began last spring, was reopened by the FGCU Board of Trustees in November after the trustees ultimately ended up with one finalist.

FGCU’s Presidential Search Advisory Committee, which met Friday, elected to invite three search firms to the Southwest Florida campus for interviews with the panel.

The search firms being considered are AGB Search, which was hired by FGCU to assist in the search last year; Greenwood Asher & Associates; and WittKieffer.

The search committee on Friday did not decide on a deadline for a new round of final candidates vying to succeed outgoing President Mike Martin to be selected.

Committee Chairman Edward Morton thanked returning members and two new members of the group for their willingness to “do this once again,” as the panel launches its second attempt at identifying Martin’s replacement.

“We will endeavor to try and guide and counsel the group as best we can, and collectively arrive at a great decision and wonderful candidates that all of the concerned parties can accept,” Morton said.
