Florida Gym Teacher Jailed After Video Catches Him Dragging 9-Year-Old Across Cafeteria Floor

A 54-year-old physical education teacher is behind bars this week following a physical run-in with a student at Greensboro Elementary School. Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Edward Wayne Lee II on Monday, April 13, 2026, after a nearly two-week investigation into a reported assault on campus.

The incident first came to light on Tuesday, March 31, when deputies were dispatched to the school to handle a report of an altercation between a teacher and a 9-year-old child.

According to officials, the Special Victims Unit took over the case and reviewed surveillance footage from the school’s cafeteria.

Investigators stated that the video shows Lee in a verbal confrontation with the young student. The footage reportedly depicts Lee standing over the child before dragging him across the cafeteria floor.

Following the review of the evidence, detectives met with Lee to obtain a sworn statement regarding the events. Based on the video and the subsequent interview, authorities secured a warrant for his arrest on a charge of Child Abuse.

Lee was taken into custody without any further incidents and was booked into the Gadsden County Jail.

The Sheriff’s Office has not released any additional information regarding the student’s condition or what led to the initial argument.
