HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – Early Tuesday morning turned into a logistical nightmare for Northbound commuters on I-75 after a collision between two tractor-trailers brought traffic to a standstill near the 305 Milepost.
The incident began around 3:15 AM when a semi-truck driven by a 45-year-old woman from Jacksonville became disabled.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the truck lost power and came to a dead stop right in the center lane of the interstate. Shortly after, a second tractor-trailer, piloted by a 51-year-old man from Minnesota, approached the stalled vehicle from behind.
State troopers reported that while the Minnesota driver spotted the stopped rig and attempted to swerve or brake to avoid the impact, he was unable to clear the lane in time. His truck slammed into the rear of the disabled vehicle, leaving a massive trail of debris across the highway.

The force of the impact initially forced authorities to shut down all northbound lanes, choking off travel for several hours as emergency crews flooded the scene. It wasn’t until 8:30 AM that troopers were able to partially reopen the interstate to let some traffic trickle through.
Miraculously, the driver of the second truck walked away from the wreckage without any injuries. The Jacksonville woman, however, sustained minor injuries during the collision. Paramedics treated her at the scene before transporting her to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
As of mid-morning, cleanup crews remained on-site, working to sweep away the remaining wreckage and fluids. While some lanes are moving, officials are urging drivers to expect continued delays until the center lane is fully cleared and the highway returns to normal operations.
