A Florida judge has revoked the bond for Jacoby Vontell Tillman, the man accused of ambushing a jogger on an Orlando trail, sending him back into custody without bail after finding he violated the terms of his release by posting threatening comments on social media.

Ninth Circuit Judge Elaine Barbour, who initially granted Tillman a $9,500 bond on Sunday, October 12, ordered the 23-year-old be remanded to jail during a hearing today, Tuesday, October 21.

Tillman is facing serious charges including attempted murder and attempted sexual battery for the July 25 attack on the Little Econ Greenway Trail, where he allegedly choked a woman unconscious.

His initial release on bond, which came despite the judge acknowledging his “atrocious record” that includes a prior battery conviction, had sparked immediate and sharp criticism from community leaders, including State Attorney Monique Worrell and Orange County Sheriff John Mina.

The decision to revoke bond followed a motion filed by prosecutors who argued Tillman had violated conditions of his pretrial release.

The violation centered on social media comments he posted that were interpreted as threatening a witness in the case. Sources indicate Tillman posted comments such as, “stop going to the news telling lies,” which prosecutors argued constituted witness tampering and a violation of his no-contact order.

Tillman was arrested on October 10 for the July assault. Authorities say the victim was grabbed from behind and choked until she blacked out, waking up with some of her clothing removed. His release had generated widespread community outrage and fear among local residents and trail users.

With his bond now revoked, Jacoby Vontell Tillman will remain in custody pending his trial for the high-profile and violent assault.
