Deputies in Marathon arrested a 51-year-old local resident Friday night after reviewing video footage that showed him holding a knife to a woman’s face and barring her from leaving a home.
Roberto Carr Carrazana Martinez faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, several counts of battery, false imprisonment, and witness tampering. Authorities confirmed that the victim did not sustain life-threatening injuries.
The investigation began around 10 p.m. on Aug. 28, 2026, when the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Marathon business where the woman works. At the scene, the victim provided deputies with video recorded days earlier at a residence.
According to investigators, the footage depicts Carrazana Martinez holding a kitchen knife against the woman’s head and face while repeatedly threatening her life.
The recording also captured him slapping the victim, locking a door to trap her inside, and physically stopping her from dialing 911. Investigators noted the footage further documented Carrazana Martinez warning the woman that he would kill her if she went to the police.
Deputies questioned Carrazana Martinez following the report. Authorities stated that he admitted to the actions seen in the footage before he was taken into custody and booked into jail.
Law enforcement officials noted that the case remains open and additional charges may be pending.
