A domestic dispute in the Florida Keys ended in a felony arrest Friday morning after a woman was beaten until she blacked out. Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies took 49-year-old Joshua Joe Easterday into custody on April 17, 2026, following the violent encounter at a Cudjoe Key residence.
The investigation began around 10 a.m. when deputies arrived at the home to find the female victim lying unconscious near the foot of a bed.
While she was breathing when help arrived, she had visible injuries to her face and was immediately transported to Lower Keys Medical Center on Stock Island for treatment.

According to the sheriff’s office reports, the victim regained consciousness and told investigators that Easterday had hit her and choked her. Easterday allegedly admitted to hitting the woman during the altercation.
Easterday was booked into jail and faces formal charges of aggravated battery and domestic battery by strangulation.
