MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 16-year-old Key Largo teenager was taken into custody Monday after authorities said he posted an online video threatening another student while holding what appeared to be a firearm.
Aiden Christopher Minnix was booked into the Monroe County Jail on Aug. 24, 2026. He faces a felony charge of making written threats and a misdemeanor charge of battery.
The investigation began following an Aug. 12 fight at Coral Shores High School, where Minnix made statements claiming he owned firearms. Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded by searching Minnix’s home, where they located and inspected three pellet guns.
Five days later, on Aug. 17, investigators were alerted to a video Minnix posted to social media. In the recording, Minnix allegedly threatened a student involved in the earlier school altercation while holding a weapon. Investigators noted the weapon displayed in the video did not match the three pellet guns previously found at his residence.
Following the investigation, authorities arrested Minnix.
“I want to thank the men and women on my team for their hard and fast work on this case,” Sheriff Rick Ramsay said. “I have zero tolerance for threats of this kind, and the Sheriff’s Office will always move quickly to resolve these incidents and hold those responsible accountable.”
