MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 32-year-old Key West woman was arrested Tuesday morning after deputies found her asleep inside a running vehicle parked at Sugarloaf School.
Justine Francisca Ortega faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, smuggling contraband into a detention facility, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the school parking lot around 10:30 a.m. regarding a parked, running vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located Ortega asleep at the wheel.
During a subsequent search, deputies discovered a backpack in Ortega’s possession containing a bag of psilocybin mushrooms weighing 4.6 grams. Following her arrest, officers found a small baggie containing cocaine in her possession while processing her into the county jail.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
