A Florida man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly chasing a childhood friend on a motorcycle, shooting at him from a Jeep Cherokee, and then bizarrely texting the victim, “When’s a good time to come over?”

The Pursuit and Bizarre Text

Isaiah MacDonald, 23, of Lake County, was arrested Sunday after a high-speed pursuit that ended in a hail of gunfire. According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began when the victim, who was test-driving a motorcycle, noticed a white Jeep Cherokee tailing him aggressively.

The victim, who recognized the driver as MacDonald—a friend he hadn’t spoken to in years—attempted to escape, weaving through traffic and making multiple turns.

During the chase, the victim told police he saw MacDonald point a firearm out of the Jeep’s window and fire at least one shot. The pursuit continued, with the victim reportedly losing control of his motorcycle momentarily after scraping a peg on the ground. The victim alleges a second shot was fired before he finally escaped.

In a strange twist, the victim received a text message from MacDonald shortly after the harrowing event. When asked about the shooting, MacDonald reportedly denied any involvement and then asked, “When’s a good time to come over?” The victim provided screenshots of the conversation to deputies.

Victim’s Mother Helps Track Down Suspect

The victim’s mother played a pivotal role in MacDonald’s capture.

After her son recounted the terrifying experience, she went to a location where she knew MacDonald lived. There, she spotted a white Jeep Cherokee matching the description given by her son. She then called the police, who located MacDonald at a nearby Circle K gas station.

Upon his arrest, deputies allegedly found ammunition, marijuana, heroin, and drug paraphernalia inside MacDonald’s Jeep. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, and drug possession.

MacDonald was released on bond and is awaiting his next court date. A witness has since corroborated the victim’s account and reportedly has security camera footage of a portion of the incident.
